Amber's graduation yesterday left me with mixed feelings. First off, it was unnecessarily long. Secondly, Western High School decided not to list the students whose last names began with the letters A & B (and probably some 'C's) on the programs. Thirdly, the administration not only didn't explain why they decided to omit the graduating students names, but an apology was never issued as well. Needless to say I am highly disappointed in Western's actions. My sons threw their programs in the garbage when they realized that their little sister's name was not on the program. I decided to keep mine to remind me what type of school Western really is. Meaning, they clearly have no problem disregarding a portion of the students whose achievements were not worth mentioning, in their eyes. So, while I'm extremely proud of my daughter, Amber Bryant, (Bryt Starz) for graduating from Western High School in Davie, Florida; that school has left me with mixed feelings pertaining to their 2018 graduation ceremony. I post this complaint in the hopes that future graduating parents never have to experience what other parents and I have experienced. Western High School administration's blatant disregard for us has left me feeling uneasy on a day that should have been enjoyed by all parents. #HappyAndUpSetAtTheSameTime. #OurKidsMatteredToo!
