Twist The Scriptures?!! I Don't Think So!!
A person from another religion, posted in one of my Christian Groups the Hebrews 5:7 scripture, that says, In the days of His flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
He used this scripture to taunt my fellow Christians, and bragged how God did not let his Son die on the cross.
The meaning: This scripture is simply saying that during the days Christ lived on Earth as a man, he humbly, with tears, cried out loud to His Father, the One who could save Him. Because Jesus was obedient to God, God heard his prayer and did as Christ had asked. Jesus' cry was for His Father, "to forgive them for they know not what they do." (I think Christ asked this a lot from God during his days on Earth.) You see Christ was on the cross asking for God Almighty to forgive us, not to save himself from dying on the cross. God, who was able to save Jesus, did not save Him, but answered his prayers by forgiving mankind.
So if someone tries to twist this scripture on you simply say, "I Don't Think So!!" Tell them with confidence, that you know, Jesus Christ was crucified, he died, was buried, and was resurrected in 3 days with all powers in his hands. Tell them you know Our Redeemer Lives today, and that He is the key to eternity!!!!!
